Place Holders
3d scans, music, custom code
I was in Beverly Hills – a place I found to be isolating and inhuman – and I wanted to document the malaise and disconnect from reality I felt permeating that whole neighborhood.
So I took a 3d scanner on a walk, and found a prop store full of mannequins. The blown-apart, fused-together, incomplete and incoherent but still somehow human forms became the inspiration for a live performance. I wrote a song for them, and wrote custom software to animate the 3d models in real time as I played based on the music. This video is a recording of that live performance.
